This past Wednesday night I went to the Farmers’ Market at the Neal Blaisdell Center lawn to check out the food at Da Spot.
Da Spot used to have a location in McCully. That has since closed and they are about to open their new restaurant in Moiliili across the old Star Market on King Street. If you’ve read other reviews on Da Spot, sanitation hasn’t been one of their top priorities.
Since I’ve only been to the booth at the Farmer’s Market, I’m only going to address what I ate. I ordered the Egyptian lamb ($10). The plate lunch came with 2 scoops of rice (you have a choice of jasmine or brown), fresh chopped tomatoes, green peppers, and onions, and two healthy pieces of lamb.
The lamb was flavorful but not all parts were tender. The food wasn’t hot either. I asked for a scoop of jasmine and a scoop of brown rice. Both were not cooked right because the rice was dry and hard. Dinner was disappointing. Hubby didn’t like it either.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll go back any time soon. Perhaps it was an off night or I ordered the wrong item. I don’t know. The food looked appetizing but looks aren’t everything.
