Beer, Beer and More Beer

Where do you go if you like beer and want to try more beer?  Yard House Waikiki located on the first floor of Waikiki Beachwalk comes to mind.

The best time to go to Yard House is during Happy Hour.  Happy Hour at Yard House is from 2 – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday and from 10:30 pm to closing Sunday – Wednesday. During Happy Hour you can get domestic pints for $3.50 and craft and import pints for $4.25 – $4.75.  Wine by the glass is $1.50 off and house martinis are $6.25.

Hubby ordered a strawberry margarita and said it tasted like Kool Aid without any liquor. Remember Yard House is known for their BEER.

Selected pizza and appetizers are half-priced during Happy Hour.  The Classic, Bernaise, Pastrami, Turkey Burger, and Veggie Sliders are $7.50.  The ahi slider is $10.45.  Our friends order the Classic Slider which came with four mini burgers and crispy fries.  They said it was good.  They also had the Margherita pizza ($5.97).  The pizza had cloves of fresh garlic.  You gotta like garlic.

Hubby and I ordered the onion ring tower ($4.47), calamari ($5.87), Blue Crab Cakes ($5.97), and seared ahi sashimi ($6.92).  Both the onion rings and calamari were excellent.  The batter on the onion rings was crispy and fried perfectly.  The calamari was crispy too and not overcooked or rubbery.  The crab cakes were okay, full of crab but the taste was so so.  The sashimi was good.  I liked the sauce but hubby didn’t. I’d probably order the sauce on the side.

I ordered the mini banana creme brulee ($4.50) for dessert.  It was different but oh so good.  The creme brulee was topped with caramelized bananas and had chocolate on the bottom.  Yummy.

Please note an 18% gratuity was added automatically to our bill.  Not sure if that is normal or because we had six in our party.  Read your bill before you add an additional tip.

I definitely would go to the Yard House again especially during Happy Hour.  The food is good and the service fast. Noise level is pretty loud and the place was crowded.  Yard House does not take reservations but you can call ahead and leave your name and you won’t have to wait as long. Their phone number is (808) 923-9273.

If you aren’t staying in Waikiki validated parking costs $6 plus tip for 4 hours.  You can also park at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and purchase something or find street parking.
