808 Bistro is a little haven in Maui. Tucked inside the back of the building, it’s really quaint. You feel like you are eating on someone’s patio. Hubby and I ate breakfast there twice while we were in Maui. I wish we could have tried their early bird dinner special.
Breakfast at 808 is not inexpensive but you get a lot of food and the food is tasty. Breakfast for the both of us was $25 without tip. Service is friendly and relaxed. Hubby ordered the 2 egg combo ($7) which came with potatoes and sweetbread. He ordered a side of bacon for $3.
The first time we went to 808 I ordered a slice banana bread french toast which is one of their signature dishes. Honestly, it was just okay. The egg batter was thin and and not evenly toasted. I know people rave about this dish but I would pass on it. Sweetbread french toast is better.
The next day I ordered the curry omelet. It was huge. I could not finish it. I ended up eating just the filling. The omelet was filled with portuguese sausage, peppers, and onions. Unless you are super hungry, don’t order this. The omelet was okay but in retrospect, it would have been better to order the two egg combo like hubby with a side of bacon or sausage.
We both also had fruit juice ($3.50/) for breakfast. The POG (passion orange guava) juice is just the best.
808 Bistro is located on 2511 S Kihei Road behind Fred’s and Moose’s. If you’re in the Kihei/Wailea area, try 808 Bistro for either breakfast or dinner. I think you’ll like it.
