Son’z at Swan Court, part of the Tri Star Restaurant Group, is located at the Hyatt Regency Maui. Hubby and I spent our honeymoon at the Hyatt Regency Maui so it was a must that we return there for our 30th anniversary dinner.
I read mixed reviews of Son’z and was apprehensive about eating there but we decided that no matter what we read or heard, we would eat there if nothing else for sentimental reasons.
Son’z is not inexpensive. Actually, eating in Maui is not inexpensive. Hubby and I shared the filet mignon meatballs spaghetti ($37) and had two salads and two desserts and the total with tip was $95. Hubby had the fresh mango sorbet ($9) and I had the creme brûlée ($12). Both were very good.
Son’z uses a team approach so we had multiple servers which was fine with us. The hostess seated us near the pond so we could see the waterfall and swans. The servers were pleasant and attentive.
The filet mignon meatballs were so ono and splitting one entree was definitely enough for both of us. In fact, one salad would have been enough for both of us.
It was a little disappointing that nothing special was done for our anniversary. Other restaurants that we’ve dined at comped a dessert or an appetizer.
The decor at Son’z is dark and frankly in need of updating or renovation. The doors near the pond are worn but the view is still great.
Would we return? The answer is yes. We had a positive experience and I would recommend it. Save your money cause you’ll need it.
Son’z is located at 200 Nohea Kai Drive in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kaanapali even though the address says Lahaina. For reservations call (808) 667-4506.
