Stella Blues

Where do you go to eat in Maui if you aren’t really hungry but want something good to eat and don’t want to spend a mint?  Well, you could go to a fast food place like McDonald’s but that’s not what hubby and I wanted to do.

After cruising in Kihei, we decided on Stella Blues for a light lunch. It was noon and the restaurant was humming and packed.  We ordered the small green side salad ($4) and a side order of tuna salad ($4) and a side order of chicken curry salad ($4). We thought we would just eat something small so we would not be starving for dinner. Forget that thought.

Stella Blues does not skimp on food. The portions (seemed like a cup of each) of the side order are huge so much so that we took food home and had enough for another meal. We should have just ordered the small green salad and either the tuna or chicken salad.  That would have been more than enough. You definitely get your monies worth here. Both the tuna and chicken salad were good.  Not much to say about the side green salad except that the lettuce was fresh and crisp and was enough for two people to share.

The restaurant seemed to have a mixture of locals and tourists with regulars who seemed to know the staff well.  The service was attentive.

Stella Blues Cafe, located at 1279 S. Kihei Road, Suite 210 in the back of the Azeka II Shopping Center, is open daily from 7:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Happy hour is 4 – 6 p.m.

Try it, I think you’ll like it.
