Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

I admit it. I am a carnivore. I like a good steak and had never tried Wolfgang’s Steakhouse at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center so decided to go there for Restaurant Week. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse had a good deal for $34.95 which was available only from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Hubby and I had lunch there on Sunday and saw quite a few friends at the restaurant. Hubby ordered the $10 burger special and I had the 12 oz New York Steak Restaurant Week Special which included muffins & bread, the Wolfgang Salad, New York Steak, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and a slice of cheesecake.

Hubby said that the burger was okay but not as good as the Kobe beef burger at Cheesecake Factory. He said that the fries were cold but that the onion rings were very good.

The Wolfgang Salad which was a combination of chopped tomatoes, onions, string beans, red pepper, shrimp and bacon with the house dressing was very refreshing and tasty. Most of the food at Wolfgang’s was served family style. We went to Wolfgang’s with another couple and all the steaks were served on one platter even though we all ordered the steaks differently, they basically came out cooked the same, medium. Strange to me.

The server put two pieces of each steak on our plates and served the mashed potatoes and spinach. The steak was very tasty and tender as the New York cut goes. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were fine.

NS & I liked the bread and muffins. They were very good and wished we had more. There was more than enough food. We all took some steak home and boxed up the cheesecake to go.

I had the cheesecake for my dinner and it was very good, the New York type, heavy and rich.

Our main waiter was Greg who was very attentive and personable. Service was good.

According to our hostess, the restaurant was busy for a Sunday which may have been due to Restaurant Week. One of our friends on another table ordered the Wolfgang’s Eggs Benedict (two eggs served over an English muffin with sliced filet mignon, hash browns and hollandaise sauce) which was $12. AA said that it was good. It looked good. Hubby said that he would go back to Wolfgang’s and order that.

Eating at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse was a nice experience although hubby and I decided that we prefer Ruth’s Chris early bird special. I like having my steak served on melted butter on my own plate instead of family style.
