Sakura Terrace

Hubby was in a mood to try something different for lunch so we stopped at Sakura Terrace at 1240 S. King Street. Sakura Terrace is a small, contemporary and cozy restaurant. When we walked into the restaurant, there were more employees than patrons. Not sure why. Our server said there are usually more customers.

Hubby ordered the unagi don ($17) and I ordered the spicy chicken don ($8.75). Each of our orders came with a bowl of miso soup.

Rice, rice and more rice. You have to like rice. The unagi don had 3 pieces of unagi over a bowl of rice. Hubby said that the unagi was tender and flavorful. Although he does not usually eat much rice, hubby ate all the rice in the bowl.

I, on the other hand, could not finish all my food. The spicy chicken don had a little kick to it and came with chopped cabbage and mayonnaise. The chicken was tender, not dry or overcooked. The spicy sauce on the rice was so good that I ate more rice than I really wanted and definitely was not hungry when I left the restaurant and had food for another meal.

Prices for Sakura Terrace are the same for lunch or dinner. Our meal was a little expensive for lunch but for dinner would be more acceptable.

Service was friendly. Seating is a bit cramped and is available on the inside or out. Free parking is available behind the restaurant or on the street.

Hubby said that he really enjoyed his meal and would eat there again. That says something. For reservations or take out, call 591-1181.
