Hubby and I wanted to try Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin at 255 Beachwalk for a couple of years but we could never find any parking. Now we know that parking is available on weekends at the Bank of Hawaii building with validation for $1 for 3 hours and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.
Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin is a small restaurant with very good food. I ordered the Bairin Pork Tenderloin Katsu Sandwich with Salad ($10) and hubby ordered the Tatsuta Age (Organic Japanese Style Fried Chicken) for $15. The food is cooked when you order so there is a little wait but it is worth it. The Katsu sandwich is 4 pieces of crustless bread. The tonkatsu is so tender to eat and was the best tonkatsu that I have ever eaten. Hubby’s fried chicken was good too…perfectly seasoned, crispy and not dry.
I definitely recommend Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin. Prices range from $8 (sandwich only) to $32 for the Kurobuta Pork Loin Katsu. Take out orders are available by phone. Call 926-8082.
Service is very good. Our server boxed our leftovers and even included salad dressing, chopsticks and napkins.
Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin is open Monday through Sunday. They open at 11 a.m. on weekdays and at 11:30 a.m. on weekends.
Try it, I think you’ll like it. Check out their bathrooms too.
