I like food and it doesn’t matter if the food comes from a street stand or a brick & mortar restaurant. What is important to me is the quality and taste of the food. Food trucks are still hot in Hawaii so I decided to try the Blue Water Shrimp & Seafood Company truck that is parked across Crane Park on 1006 Kapahulu Avenue.
Blue Water Shrimp & Seafood Company has been advertising quite a bit and piqued my curiosity. Hubby and I parked on Kapahulu Avenue and walked to the food truck. Hubby ordered the loco moco and I ordered the garlic shrimp and teriyaki steak combo. Your food is prepared when ordered so be prepared to wait. However, you can also pre-order your food by calling 735-5080.
Covered outdoor seating is available at the old Burgundy Restaurant.
Each entree came with two scoops rice, a choice of tossed or potato salad, corn, and a slice of apple and a pineapple with an orchid. Hubby liked his loco moco and was able to eat only half of it. He said that the burger and gravy was tasty and wouldn’t hesitate to return to order it again.
The garlic shrimp was okay. I think it needed more salt. However, the teriyaki was seasoned perfectly and the meat very tender. The potato salad was also good but the rice was cold and a little hard.
Dinner was under $20 including tax and tip. Portions are generous and we took home food. However, I’m not sure if I would return any time soon.
