Nico’s is one of my favorite places to eat. I love the furikake pan seared ahi and the wine braised short ribs and was hoping to eat the seared ahi on Saturday.
Unfortunately, hubby and I went to the restaurant at 4:15 p.m. and lunch service was over at 4 p.m. We didn’t want to wait till 5 p.m. for dinner so we opted for appetizers at the bar. There was a limited appetizer menu during happy hour but with the bartender’s help we finally decided on the calamari ($10), ahi spread ($8) and french fries ($3.25). The french fries weren’t on the menu but the bartender said we could order it.
The calamari was deep fried and came with a cocktail sauce. I also requested the ginger garlic aioli that is served with the pan seared ahi. The calamari was tender and not chewy.
The smoked ahi spread came with tortilla chips. It was mild and quite tasty. Hubby liked the french fries which was more than we could finish.
Service was friendly and attentive. Happy hour is Monday – Saturday from 4 – 6 p.m. Selected drinks range from $3 – $4 during happy hour.
Even though what I ate wasn’t what I was craving, our food at Nico’s was pretty good and I walked away contented and full.
When we left the restaurant, a little before 5 p.m., people were lining up for dinner and cars were rolling into the parking lot.
