Le Bistro Redux

A good restaurant stands the test of time. Le Bistro is one of those restaurants.  Hubby and I went to Le Bistro on Sunday night. Although the restaurant is located in a strip mall in Niu Valley, once you enter the restaurant, you’ll feel that you’re in Napa Valley.

I made reservations at 4:40 p.m. for 5 p.m. when the restaurant opens. We arrived at exactly at 5 p.m. but one party was already seated. When we left the restaurant, Le Bistro was packed.

Hubby ordered a Caesar salad ($8.80) and the Sea Bass ($32.80). I  ordered my fave at Le Bistro, the barbecue lamp chops ($29.80). Dinner started with lavosh with butter. Unfortunately, I’m allergic to sesame seeds and lavosh is full of sesame seeds so we passed on the lavosh and waited for the fresh baked bread which was warm and yummy. The bread was crunchy on the outside and so soft inside.

The Caesar salad was four leaves of baby Romaine lettuce with croutons and cheese. The delicious dressing which tasted like it had anchovies is served on the side. I’m not sure the salad is worth $8.80 but it was good.

The Sea Bass came with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The lamb chops came with roasted potatoes and vegies. Hubby and I switched sides. I ordered the lamb chops medium but they came out more medium well but was tender and delicious not the less. Hubby loved his Sea Bass and ate everything on his plate. He said the bass was flaky and tasty.

Hubby and I shared the apple tart ($8.95) for dessert. It was sweet but not too sweet, a great end to a wonderful dinner.

Service was very attentive.

Call (808) 373-7990 for reservations. Le Bistro is located at 5730 Kalanianaole  Highway.  I encourage you to try Le Bistro, I think you’ll like it. Dinner for two with tax and tip was over $100.
