Thanks to the television show Triple D, Diners, Drive-Inns, & Dives, Hank’s Haute Dogs has gained a popularity beyond Hawaii. I’m not into hot dogs since I learned how they are made. However, I thought I would eat a hot dog today at Hank’s.
Hubby and I went to Hank’s this afternoon for a small snack. We ordered the fat boy ($5.95) which is a deep fried bacon wrapped hot dog with mayo, lettuce and tomato combo. A combo dog (+ $3.95) comes with regular fries, special dipping sauce, and a small soda. I paid an additional $1 charge for the duck fat fries.
The hot dog was good but the portion size is small. I ordered the garlic aioli dipping sauce but the garlic flavor was almost non-existant to me. The star was the duck fat fries. They were so tasty and crunchy. You really didn’t need a sauce, ketchup was fine.
Hubby said that he would return to Hank’s but would try the burger next time. I’d like to try the creme brulee.
Hank’s is located at 324 Coral Street. They are open at 10 a.m. Monday – Friday and open at 11 a.m. on weekends. They close at 4 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday and at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. 1 hour free parking is available in the lot behind off Auhai. Bring cash since Hank’s does not accept any credit cards.
