Uncle’s Fish Market & Grill is located at Pier 38 across of NIco’s. The two restaurants have a very different feel. Uncle’s has wooden tables and chairs and photos all over the restaurant while Nico’s is open with a casual contemporary feel.
Last week hubby suggested we try Uncle’s for dinner. I made reservations for a 4:30 p.m. dinner which actually wasn’t necessary. The restaurant had a lot of open seating. We were told that it does get very busy between 6 and 8 p.m. and were advised to make reservations if we wanted to eat during those times.
Hubby ordered the seafood pasta with marinara sauce ($19.95) and I ordered the fresh tuna salad with seafood chowder ($11.95). The seafood pasta had lots of calamari in addition to fish, clams, shrimp, and clams and came with two slices of garlic bread. Hubby ate everything but three shrimp and said it was delicious.
The tuna salad is made with fresh tuna and was quite good. The presentation of the tuna sandwich reminds me of a hamburger especially since it is served on a bun. The challah bun is sweet and adds to the sandwich. I liked the Japanese cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes but removed the onions. The New England style seafood chowder was very tasty and smooth with fish and potatoes. I did not taste or see any clams in my chowder and the chowder wasn’t as rich and creamy as some that I’ve eaten in the past.
Service was very friendly and attentive.
Would I go back? The answer is yes. Would like to try one of the happy hour items and the poke tower.
Uncle’s Fish Market & Grill opens at 10 a.m. For reservations, call 275-0063.
