Hubby and I went to Highway Inn this morning located 680 Ala Moana Boulevard, Ste. 105 (same building as Starbucks). We weren’t sure they would be open but found out they actually open at 7 a.m.
We were greeted with a smile and were seated a couple of minutes after we entered the restaurant. Our server came to our table and took our drink ordered right away.
Hubby ordered the Kaka’ako Breakfast ($9.75) which included two eggs, bacon, a piece of toast, and two scoops rice. He also ordered a side order of Portuguese sausage. I ordered the Sweetbread French Toast ($7.95) .
The food was pretty good but not inexpensive for what you get. The bacon (2 slices) was crispy, just the way I like it and the sausage (3 slices) was good too. However, the scrambled eggs looked more like an omelette than scrambled.
The Sweetbread French Toast (two thick slices) came with slices of banana and lilikoi and maple syrup. Hubby really liked the French Toast and said he would come back just for that.
Portion sizes were adequate and service was attentive. Our server filled my water glass three times.
I’d return and try something else like the Smokn’ Moku or go for lunch instead.
