Hughley’s Southern Cuisine

Hubby and I went to The Alley today for a late lunch. When we arrived at the restaurant there was a sign on the door that said closed at 2 p.m. for a private function.

Hubby did a Yelp search and suggested we go to Hughley Southern Cuisine (99-080 Kauhale Street) about 3 minutes from The Alley.

We walked into Hughley’s and chose to share the anniversary combo special for $15.99. We ordered the brisket and catfish combo with candied yams and green beans as our sides. Cornbread also came with the special.

Hughley’s has been open for a year serving Southern comfort food. The brisket slices were very thin but tender. My faves were the candied yams, cornbread and catfish. Hubby also liked the barbecue sauce.

The food at Hughley’s is home-style cooking, nothing fancy but good.

Would I return? Perhaps, but not any time soon. Hughley’s seems to be a family run restaurant where the children help out at the restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive.
