Although I’ve been to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel for dinner, I’ve never eaten at Azure. Restaurant Week was my excuse to try Azure which is right on the beach. Azure is not inexpensive, hence, my reluctance.
My SO and I went to dinner on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. when the sun was about to set. I ordered the Restaurant Week 5-course menu ($65) and my SO ordered the big salad ($14) and onaga which came with two sides ($40).
Our server brought the bread basket which came with lavosh and two other breads and spreads. I especially liked the clam spread which was delicious.
My SO enjoyed the onaga with herbs was simply cooked and boneless. He chose the fresh corn with mushrooms and the sweet potato as his sides. Both were good.
The food at Azure was excellent and very unique in its preparation. Everything on the Restaurant Week menu was superb. I especially liked the Roasted Winter Squash soup and the Grilled Prawns. The filet and foie gras complemented each other and were tender. Portions are not big, hence no leftovers.
Service was attentive. If money is not an object, eat at Azure. If it is an object, consider it for a special occasion. If you are a foodie, I think you will enjoy the experience, especially the taste and textures of the food.
Parking is either valet or at the parking structure near the Sheraton Waikiki. Tab with tax and tip for two people was over $160.
