Livestock Tavern

I really like Lucky Belly so when I found out that Livestock Tavern was their sister restaurant, I had to try it. CW and I drove to Chinatown and found a great street parking space. However, it was only 10:40 a.m. and Livestock Tavern opens at 11 a.m. so we decided to do a little shopping first.

We arrived at the restaurant at 11:15 a.m. and found that there were already quite a few people seated. We thought we would be seated in the main dining room on a community table but were seated in the bar.

We ordered from the Spring menu and shared everything. We ordered the beet salad ($10),  Tavern burger ($16), and the lobster roll ($18).

The beet salad was light and refreshing. I especially liked the crispy goat cheese and dressing. However, the lobster roll was a disappointment. The lobster had no taste to me, like it was frozen lobster, almost watery. I would pass on the lobster roll. The star was the burger…moist and so yummy with the bacon onion marmalade. We ordered the burger with fries and that was good too. Crispy on the outside but not too crunchy.

Service was friendly, pleasant and attentive.

Livestock Tavern is located at 49 Hotel Street. Hours for lunch are 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for walk-ins. Be prepared to wait. Reservations are taken for dinner only. Phone (808) 255-8796. I recommend eating at Livestock Tavern but skip the lobster roll and order the burger. I hear the beef tongue is good but I really don’t like the texture of tongue. Our server said that the tongue was one of her favorites and she does not like tongue so if you are adventurous try it you might like it.
