My SO and I went to the Puka’s Bar at Kahala Mall (4211 Wai’alae Avenue) for a late lunch on Thursday. We walked into the restaurant and seated ourselves at the high tops. We waited a little while for someone to wait on us. A waiter finally stopped by and took our drink order and gave us the menus.
RM ordered the IPA Battered Fish & Chips ($12) and I ordered the Rainbow Roll (4 pieces for $6) made with brown rice.
The fish and chips were delicious. The fish had a delicate thin batter and was flaky and moist. The chips were hot and lightly crunchy. The rainbow roll was good too, a little unusual with brown rice. We were duly impressed with the quality of the food and the price.
Puka’s Bar which means hole in Hawaiian is open daily from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Seating is available inside or outside. Take-out is available until 5 p.m.
I’ll be back. Would like to try other items on the menu. Our server said that adults could order the Keiki Plates which I just might do.
Wines and beers are available by the glass. Flights are $10 (4 wines or beers).
Try Puka’s. I think you’ll like it.
