The Signature Prime Steak and Seafood

I love food, bargains, and helping the Culinary Institute so one of my favorite times of the year is Restaurant Week. This year NS and I decided to eat at The Signature Prime Steak and Seafood Restaurant on the 36th floor of the Ala Moana Hotel. Neither of us had ever eaten there.

After checking in at the hostess desk, we were given three menus…the regular menu, the Restaurant Week Menu ($59.95) and the Kamaaina Menu ($56.95). After perusing the menus, we all decided to go with the Kamaaina Special.

The Kamaaina menu offers a choice of Caesar Salad or Avocado Onion Strawberry Salad. Our entire party ordered the 16 ounce boneless prime rib steak which came with mashed potatoes or rice. Dessert was blood orange sorbet.

Three in our party ordered the Caesar Salad. I ordered the Avocado Salad. I should have ordered the Caesar Salad. The Avocado salad was half an avocado with the skin on, sliced onions, and sliced strawberries. Not a good combination or presentation. Also the avocado was not ripe so was a little hard. The dressing was good.

My steak was well seasoned, tender and cooked just the way I wanted it. I only ate half the steak. A lb of meat is too much to eat in one meal. My SO only ate half his steak so we brought home a lot of meat.

The mashed potatoes was okay, nothing special. The sorbet was very refreshing and a nice end to a good meal. Service was fine but I’ve had better at Ruth’s Chris and Hy’s.

My SO said he prefers Ruth’s Chris so we probably won’t be back. For reservations, check out this website http://www.signatureprimesteak.com or open table.
