My SO likes to go out for breakfast. Me not so much. We drove to Cafe Kaila for breakfast a few times but walked away because of the long line of people waiting outside. However, I read in the newspaper that Cafe Kaila is now open for dinner Wednesday through Friday so convinced my SO that we should try it.
We went on a Friday night a little after 5 pm. Although there were people in the restaurant, there was no line so we walked right in. After perusing the menu, RM ordered the meatloaf ($16) and I ordered the chicken and Belgian waffles ($13).
The meatloaf was huge and came with potatoes and vegetables (carrots and broccoli). It was hot, steaming, and delicious. My Belgian waffle was crispy, light and so yummy with the syrup. The fried chicken consisted of 3 pieces of breast meat. It was okay and a bit salty to me.
Portions were ample. We took home half the meatloaf and vegetables with some chicken which made for some ono leftovers.
Servers are friendly and attentive. There is a bit of a wait for the food but it is worth it. Cafe Kaila is located at the Market City Mall at 2919 Kapiolani Boulevard. It’s quaint and the food is good and worth the wait. If you don’t want to wait, try eating there for dinner.
