I love to watch Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Inn and Dives. What a gig traveling around the country eating at neat places. That’s my dream job. My blog is my feeble attempt to review restaurants in Hawaii and while traveling.
My SO and I went to Panya Bistro at Hokua Tower for Happy Hour (between 3 – 6 p.m.) on a Tuesday. The restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered the gyoza, crab salad crostini, chicken wings, and won tons for $5 each. Our faves were the gyoza, crab salad crostini, and chicken wings. The gyoza was tender and juicy, lightly pan fried. The crab salad was fresh and delicious. However, the crostini was too crunchy. We asked for the crab salad on bread instead and that was better. I also tasted the curry chicken salad. To me the crab salad was better. I like savory better than sweet though. The chicken wings were crunchy and easy to eat since one of the wing bones was removed. The won tons were nothing special so I’d pass on that.
Panya is a bakery so there are some great desserts to choose if you want something sweet. RM had the strawberry shortcake ($6) and a Coke ($4).
Our server Ashley was very friendly and attentive.
Our check was $36.65 without the tip. RM said he would eat at Panya again, however, not anytime soon. Their menu is quite extensive. Panya Bistro is located at 1288 Ala Moana Blvd. #116. Validated parking is free.
